Attire For
The Event
Dress Code
In going along with standard Washington, D.C. dress, the attire for the U.S. Model House of Representatives will be as follows: Tuesday & Wednesday The Dress Code for all events at the Marriott Wardman Park, U.S. Capitol House of Representatives Committee Room and DNC and CRNC events will be business attire. Thursday We will be visiting the National Archives, Supreme Court and the Library of Congress. The attire will be business casual. Later in the evening, the dress will be business attire. Friday The dress for the afternoon of voting is business attire. At the evening’s closing gala at Union Station, business attire for the male Student Representatives and business or cocktail attire for the Women Representatives. Women’s Attire A pant suit, pants with a blouse, or a skirt suit are appropriate for business attire. Skirts and dresses should at all times be well below the knee. Hosiery is required. You should make an effort to wear comfortable, well-fitted flat business shoes. There will be walking each of the days and comfortable shoes are well advised. All shoes must be closed-toe. If you must wear heels, you should bring a pair of comfortable flats with you to walk to and from your destination, which is standard practice in Washington. On Thursday, casual business can be slacks with a blouse or polo tee with comfortable walking shoes. For Friday, closing voting will be business attire, and you may choose to wear either business attire or cocktail attire at the closing gala, with all dresses going below the knee and no “spaghetti strap” or strapless dresses. Men’s Attire A suit and tie, or sports coat, slacks and tie with business dress shoes are appropriate for business attire. On Thursday, slacks or khakis with a polo tee or button-down shirt with casual business, with comfortable walking shoes. At the closing gala, a suit and tie is preferred, but not required, as slacks, tie and sports coat will be adequate.
